Calling a Spade a Spade

8 02 2010

My Dear Fellow Patriots,

I hope this posting finds all of you well.  I want to talk to you about all of the accusations and lies that have been coming from Washington, and groups like surgeUSA.org (TPN-you know who you are), and all of those lovely political consultants on all the networks that portend to KNOW who we are and what we are attempting to do.  Why don’t we sit down for a moment and have a chat about a phrase I learned from my father, “Call a Spade a Spade”.  All it means is that we should be honest and true to ourselves and what we want to accomplish.  This is a challenge in an atmosphere of negativity and conflicting view points.  One day you may hear how everyone is so excited about going to the Tea Party Convention in Nashville and in the next breath, you see three articles from the Associated Press, MSN, and even the Washington Post that the cause may be in danger of falling to pieces.  What is the truth?  Please allow me to clarify and enlighten everyone.

First of all, we need to go back to the history books and look at where it all went wrong.  For the last one hundred-fifty years, (more on this subject to come in future from our dormant blog, link coming soon as well-haha) our country has become riddled with a cancer.  This cancer has a name, actually several names.  You can call it Socialism, Marxism, Populist agendas, or the Progressive Movement, but when you look at the bottom line, you find that the message is inherently the same:  the Government knows best when it comes to your life, they want Isolationism in trade, citizens should rely upon entitlement programs to solve their life problems, and that everyone is no longer an individual with free thoughts but must be assimilated to fit into the agenda, and any time this plan does not work, simply change the name and keep the evolution of change going.  This is the true face of what we are up against.  It happened beneath our noses and before we knew it, all of their dreams came to fruition in the Administration we have now.  In case you wonder where you fit into their plans, I may bum you out when I tell you that we are all serfs.  We are pawns in a power game.  However, they were counting on the serfs to keep to the fields or believe that there was nothing to be done and it was too late to save our country.  They believed that we were ignorant, lazy, and too unorganized to fight.  They were wrong.

When We the People saw what the game was and knew the score, we started talking.  We began to network and use new sources to communicate and coalesce to form groups that believe in one bottom line:  we believe in States’ sovereignty, small Central Government, Free Market solutions (we do have a Capitalist economy), the Bill of Rights, responsible stewardship of tax payer money, cutting spending to pork projects, release of the hold of special interest groups on our representatives, Conservative values, the two party system (no we DO NOT want a third), and a return of our nation to the guidelines and parameters set forth in our Constitution by our Nation’s Founders.  We want our country back.  This may seem to be a lot to demand, but the reality is that this is the bare minimum we should require of our government as citizens of the United States.  These beliefs are the common denominator of the organizations that have cropped up across this nation.  It is a Movement of the Common Man BY the common man.  We believe that as citizens, we should be able to use whatever tools are available to us to share the reality of the state of affairs in our country.  That may mean for some that it is to donate money to fund a cross-country tour, others donate their time to helping people of like minds join together to form a group online to discuss what ideas they have to change the direction of our nation, others may work on campaigns to help elect delegates who TRULY represent our needs, and still others (like myself) may contribute writings and thoughts as pseudo-philosophers.  It makes no difference what our backgrounds are because this Movement of the Common Man is not about one leader or one person; it functions as a true democracy, a group of organizations formed by us for us.  Question these things and test groups before you join them.  Essentially, know what you are getting into before you dip your toes in the water.  If you do not feel that the organization represents what you feel and know to be true in your heart, then keep searching and you will find the one where you fit.  Believe me.  It exists and there is a job for everyone to do and you can be as creative and free as you like working towards REAL change.  Don’t be afraid to say what you feel because it is your right to say it in any manner and no Administration, no matter how powerful they THINK they are can take this right of free speech away from you, the citizen.  Use your freedoms as tools for change, especially your freedom of speech.  For as George Washington once said, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”  This Administration would love for that very thing to happen TO YOU.

This Administration wants you to believe that the Movement of the Common Man is fracturing.  They want you to believe that it is a blip on the radar of politics, which is why Robert Gibbs downplays everything that we have accomplished.  President Obama must have been pretty upset when more people showed up for the Tax Day Tea Party than his inauguration.  The more they talk us down, the more sure you can be that this cause is WORKING.  They are afraid.  I suppose they never read Thomas Paine who once said, “An army of principles can penetrate where an army of soldiers cannot.”  They used thug tactics to coerce people to go along with the agenda because when the rhetoric was no longer keeping people in dark, they had to resort to more desperate measures (see my posting on the American Liberty Alliance-Alabama for more details).  This Administration has never been good at calling a spade a spade.  They point to the past or find some poor patsy to take the fall (Eric Holder you may be next!) but never look to themselves as the TRUE problem.  As activists, we hold the mirror to their faces and the sham reflected causes their stomachs to churn.  This is why they try to frighten you and tell you that our cause is an attempt to tear our country apart.  They demonize us to keep you complacent and silent.  But remember:  “All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”- Thomas Jefferson

Posted by Alan Pounders

The upcoming Alabama Gubernatorial race will be one of the most important in the history of our state.  More than ever, we need a Governor who will stand up for conservative principles including low taxes, smaller government, a balanced budget, and state sovereignty just to name a few.  Below, I’m listing some of the candidate’s websites.  Please, read through the information and decide for yourself who should lead our state through the tough times ahead.  Thank you for all your time and efforts.

Hypocrisy, Dishonesty, and Double Standards

7 10 2009

by Alan Pounders

When I look at our government, I see a picture of double standards, hypocrisy, and outright dishonesty.  This is not limited to one single person, party, or government branch;  rather it is all encompassing.  On the campaign trail we always hear promises of low taxes, government transparency, accountability, and “change”.  The problem is, these promises are rarely delivered and when they are, they work to the detriment of our country rather than the good.

Recently, the US Congress voted to post the new Agriculture bill 72 hours before they vote.  This was done in order to give them an opportunity to confirm that all of the farm subsidies, etc. are included and posted correctly.  This is a great idea.  In retrospect, the Health Care Reform bill will reform 1/6 of the US economy, yet Speaker Nancy Pelosi is holding back and is refusing to hold a vote to put a 72 hour wait on it.  Why?  One answer, we cannot afford to make the American people wait any longer.  If this is true, why would “Reform now-ers” go on record to say the bill would be tabled if there isn’t a public option?  It must not be that necessary if it can be put on hold for political reasons.  If it is so important that it “needs” to be passed immediately, I would think any type of positive reform should be allowed to move forward, not be tabled to revisit when the political environment is a little more “friendly” toward it.  The truth, in my opinion, is they want to stuff all their special projects into a “super-sized” bill, put it to a vote before anyone has a chance to read it, and ram it through before the American people know what has happened.  What do you think?

Our representatives have reduced themselves to the same social intellectual level of a 3rd grader.  During Obama’s speech to the US congress, Rep. Joe Wilson(R)-SC called the President a liar.  Personally, I agree with this statement, however it probably wasn’t made in an appropriate setting.  Mr. Wilson apologized on his own accord, the president accepted, and we move on, right?  No.  Pelosi was angry, so Congress passed a resolution of disapproval and asked for Mr. Wilson to stand and apologize on the House floor.  Compare this reaction to that of the remarks of Rep. Alan Grayson(D)-FL.  Mr. Grayson, on the house floor, commented that “all republicans want senior citizens to die fast.”  Instead of apologizing, he then went on to compare Republicans idea of proper health care to the Holocaust.  This is completely outrageous, and quite frankly, it is unbecoming of a United States Congressman.  I am against health care reform in the form it is currently being presented because it will not improve anything.  Reform is intended to fix problems, not create more.  Everything government runs turns into a huge, costly, inefficient bureaucracy.  The point is, Mr. Grayson was allowed to say this with no apologies, no resolution of disapproval, not even a statement that disapproves of his statements.  This is a double standard based on political party.

The President and his cronies insist that a bureaucrat will NEVER stand between you and your doctor, however the details of the implementation of the bill would do just that.  The bill sets up a group of appointed board members who answer to the Secretary of Health and Human Services, who in turn would decide what goes and what doesn’t.  This sounds like government standing between you and your doctor.  They also deny that the health care bill would form “death panels”, that it would cover illegal immigrants, or abortions.  Resolutions have been brought up to insure these things will not happen but they have all been voted down.  To me, this, at best, sends mixed messages.

We also have ACORN, an international community action group facing charges of voter fraud in several states after their 2008 work with the Obama campaign.  Also, they were just caught on video giving advice on how to dodge tax codes and business laws to two undercover reporters posing as a pimp and a prostitute.  The US Senate and the House each voted to defund ACORN, but somehow they still recently received just under $1 million for fire safety in Louisiana.  On top of that, corrupt local governments, such as New Orleans, continue to give ACORN money for projects, such as building houses.  What does ACORN know about fire protection?  Where are they building new houses in New Orleans?  I recently visited New Orleans and I found that the people ACORN is supposed to be helping are living in houses with holes in the roof and walls missing.  Where is all this taxpayer money going?

Then there is SEIU.  President Obama, in his own words, stated he would turn to SEIU for help regarding his policies.  What have we seen from SEIU?  They certainly aren’t afraid to flex their muscle and use scare tactics in attempts to silence anyone who disagrees with Obama’s policies.  Is this the help Obama referred to?

Finally, we arrive to the reason people like myself are forced to ask these kinds of questions.  It is the media’s job to ask tough questions, investigate corruption, shine spotlights on inaccuracies, and generally be a check on the powers that control our country and our world.  They have dropped the ball.  The far left hurl accusations that conservatives such as myself, conservative new media, and conservative news outlets such as FOX News do not present the truth, but take a long, hard look at the liberal media and the “mainstream” media.  Where did they stand on their coverage of ACORN?  (I use this example because it is occurring now)  FOX News, along with Conservative talk radio and conservative bloggers have been reporting on ACORN’s corruption for months.  Where has the mainstream media been?  It took two independent Vloggers to expose this most recent scandal.  The toughest question the mainstream can muster;  Can ACORN survive this controversy and continue their good work?  Are you kidding me?

To me, just the few things I have discussed here send a pretty troubling series of messages.  We have a legislative branch that cares more about egos, favors, and agendas than they do about America and are more concerned with childish games than with their responsibilities to you and me.  We have a president that we do not really know.  He said, “You will know me by who I associate myself with.”  So far there is Jeremiah Wright, Williams Ayers, his cabinet and advisors (composed of a number of self-proclaimed socialists, Marxists, and communists.), and the groups ACORN and SEIU I discussed earlier.  All government officials swear an oath to uphold the Constitution of the United States.  If they do not do so, the media should be there to serve as a huge spotlight to expose the guilty parties.  We have a media that no longer cares about investigating and finding the truth, unless it furthers the agendas of their parent companies.

America can still be saved, but it will take all of US.  WE, as Americans citizens, must hold our representatives accountable.  We must send a message to Washington.  WE ARE THE AMERICAN PEOPLE and the government works for us, not the other way around.
